ABOUT ME |
|
|
|
People know me as the man behind India’s low-cost
airline ‘Air Deccan.’ A dream that made it possible
for the common man in India to touch the skies.
However not many know me as a person, my background
or my vision. |
|
|
|
I am Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar Gopinath. Known as
Captain Gopi, I hail from a remote village of Gorur
in Southern Karnataka. |
|
|
 |
|
|
|
Born into an intellectual family, the real
transformation came about during my days in the
prestigious National Defence Academy. I graduated
from the Indian Military Academy as a commissioned
officer in the Indian Army. After having served the
nation as a Commissioned Army Officer, my inane need
to keep contributing to the society made me take up
something radically different - sericulture. |
|
|
|
I got involved in a sericulture project launched in
Javagal. The next few years showed a series of
successful implementations, where the innovative
eco-friendly methods of silk farming won me the
‘Rolex International Award’ in 1996. |
| |
| Frustrated with the state of affairs
in the political arena; I have decided to stand for
elections as an individual candidate in order to
represent the people. Weaving dreams is not my
style. Making dreams happen is. |
| |
| I envision a governance guided by a
Citizen’s Committee, which would serve as a platform
for every individual’s voice to be heard. A platform
where problems and issues could be discussed and
solved in real time instead of the usual political
strategy of filing it with a false promise of
dealing with it in time. I want to be the most
accessible People’s representative in India. |
| |
| I request you to come forward and cast your
votes this election. Vote for a betterment for
your own future, vote for change – vote you must. |
